La seda rota (2005)
La seda rota reúne las fotografías tomadas en la casa abandonada de la familia Madrazo, una dinastía, hoy extinta, de famosos pintores madrileños de los siglos XIX y XX. En diálogo con el escritor Andrés Trapiello, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto recrea la atmósfera extraña, a veces oprimente, que ha fijado estos espacios en un tiempo incierto poblado con el recuerdo de sus habitantes. Entre presencia y ausencia, la acumulación de los retratos pintados y los objetos enfatiza el destino de esta familia cuyo retrato “post mortem” del último niño simboliza el fin.
Seda rota compiles photographs taken at the abandoned house of the Madrazo family, a dynasty, extinct today, of famous Madrid painters from the 19th and 20th centuries. In a dialogue with the writer, Andres Trapiello, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto recreates the strange, sometimes oppressive atmosphere, which has fixed these spaces in an uncertain era inhabited with the memory of their inhabitants. Between presence and absence, the accumulation of painted portraits and objects emphasise the fate of this family, whose "post mortem" portrait of the last child symbolises the end.
